Howells School
Project Overview
Emroch Landscapes was commissioned by Howells School to refresh the planting beds outside the main school building, removing overgrown shrubbery and spent topsoil and replacing them with fresh, fertile topsoil and new planting to rejuvenate the area.
Challenge & Approach
This project presented a unique challenge: it was carried out during term time, with students and staff actively using the school grounds. We needed to deliver the work efficiently while maintaining strict safety protocols to protect everyone on site.
What we did:
-
Safe site management: We devised a robust traffic and pedestrian management plan—clearly defining work zones, erecting temporary barriers, and scheduling noisy or messy tasks outside of busy hours.
-
Efficient removal and replacement: The existing shrubbery and exhausted topsoil were carefully removed, ensuring no disruption to school life. We then installed high-quality, fertile topsoil to support healthy plant growth.
-
Landscape renewal: Once the groundwork was complete, we selected and planted new shrubs suited to the school environment—durable, low-maintenance, and visually appealing.
Outcome & Impact
-
Enhanced environment: The refreshed planting beds now offer a vibrant, attractive school setting that reflects a well-maintained and welcoming atmosphere.
-
Uninterrupted school routine: Thanks to our in-house team’s professionalism and carefully planned execution, the school’s daily operations continued smoothly throughout the project.
-
Long-term value: The new topsoil and shrubs ensure better soil health, improved aesthetics, and easier maintenance moving forward.
