Himley Hall
Project Overview:
As part of the regeneration of woodland trails at Himley Hall, Emroch Landscapes Ltd were appointed to install a new woodland-themed play zone to complement the heritage and natural beauty of the site. The playground was designed and supplied in partnership with Eibe Play, incorporating robust Robinia timber features.
Scope of Works:
- Preparation and clearance of a sloped woodland site
- Ground modelling to accommodate natural play features within a safe gradient
- Installation of a wide range of timber play units including:
- Multi-level climbing structures
- Rope traverses
- Seated spinners and balance logs
- Slide and tower combination units
- Installation of bark safer surfacing across the woodland floor
- Hand excavation and protection of tree root zones in line with arboricultural guidelines
- Completion of boundary fencing and access pathway edging.
Delivery Considerations:
- All works were carried out in a heritage-listed landscape with significant ecological sensitivity, requiring daily liaison with the Parks Ranger Service.
- The site remained open to the public throughout the works; safe pedestrian routes and strict delivery coordination were enforced.
- Tight programme for completion ahead of the summer holidays.
Outcome:
The project successfully delivered a play space that feels organic and exciting while blending into the woodland context. The high-quality Robinia timber play structures provide a natural aesthetic with excellent longevity. Community feedback has been highly positive, and the play area has seen excellent footfall since reopening.
